1. Flowerpot Island

Take a speedboat tour in Tobermory – with Tobermory Cruise Line FLASH for a comfortable, thrilling and exhilarating 1 hour ride at speeds upto 29 knots (33.3 Miles/hr – 53.7 km/hr) in Georgian Bay. Departing from their own dock on Bay Street at the top east end of the marina, you do a 360 of Flowerpot Island and see the Island with a totally different set of eyes compared to if you are on the island.

You see the Lighthouse Museum, Lightstation and Beach from out on the water and it is a different perspective altogether. The Lighthouse and Observation/viewing deck look cool too.

Then you come upon the stunning Flowerpots in all their glory with scores of sun-bathers and water-lovers on the craggy rocky shore. People swim, snorkel and kayak here in this unbelievably clear, cool water.

2. The Grotto

Speedboat FLASH then thunders off in the direction of Halfway Rock Point passing Bears Rump Island giving you a good view of the “bear” sleeping in both directions. Halfway Rock Point is beautiful to look at and then you come upon Indian Head Cove and the main attraction, The Grotto.

View the Grotto as you will never view it from land. Overhanging Point or the “amphitheater” as it is fondly called, Boulder Beach and the untamed wild shoreline of the Bruce Peninsula.

If you’re fortunate, you might see the majestic Chi-Cheemaun sail by. The friendly crew of FLASH greet you cordially, Captain Dave steers his boat expertly and the humorous Tour guide Travis informs you knowledgeably of historical facts, landmarks and events in this region.

Speedboat FLASH is a fun and party themed tour boat with pulsating music playing over the sound-system. You might get wet when FLASH crashes into wake and creates a big splash into the boat but it is a very safe and stable ride. You can book tickets and make reservations here. They have a complimentary parking lot.

Tobermory Cruise Line also rents Kayaks by the hour with a direct-in-water slip which means no kayak launch fee or portage from the store.

TIPS

  • Use the washroom before departing as there are no stops till you return (1 hr).
  • If you want some shelter from the spray, sit towards the front of the boat.
