This UNESCO World Heritage Site is 62 miles/100 kms west of Halifax on route 103 (70 miles/113 kms from Stanfield International Airport). You can do a day-trip from Halifax or stay here in one of the several historic properties that have been converted into charming bed and breakfasts and inns. All are a short walk from most of the town’s attractions and restaurants. There is an RV campground in town itself with 22 EWS, 23 EW and 10 un-serviced. All serviced sites are 30 amps and Pets are welcome.

1. The Harbor

The best place to view and photograph this beautiful harbor entirely, is from across the harbor on Cove Road. It is a pleasant 1 mile/1.6 km/20 min walk around the harbor.

3. Wander The Old Town

4. Historic St. John’s Anglican Church

St. John’s Anglican Church has a more than 200 year-old historic past. Visit the church and take a guided tour to learn more.
5. The Fishermens’ Memorial
On the harbor at King Street Extension, there are eight triangular columns of black granite arranged as a compass rose. Each column is inscribed with the names of seamen and ships who never made it back. Every year the community gives thanks for those seafaring residents returning safely and also to remember those who did not. An annual event is held in September.
6. Blue Rocks

Visit Blue Rocks, a tiny community 4.3 miles/7 kms south of Lunenburg. Route 103 heading west will get you there. At Blue Rocks you have some very picturesque views of the rugged coastline and local area.

There is a very peculiar yellow grass/weed that grows on the rocks in the ocean and can be seen at high and low tides.
